i'm writing this the way i would. maybe you'll find all my future posts different from other bloggers but we could have the same subject because we are in the same event. enough intro, let's get to what i'm writing about.
may 26, 2010. i went with daomisyel to podium for the DC Comics 75th Anniversary Presscon at terry's gourmet. i wasn't expecting much, or anything at all for that matter, because i thought i wasn't that interested. until i saw the organizers setting up those superman, wonderwoman, batman, green lantern and the flash walls. i didn't read whatever it was written on those walls. i just took pics of them using my phone. then we entered, registered and found our seats.
i was throwing a little tantrum because i want to sit in a wonderwoman shirt-covered chair, of which i wasn't able to because those chairs were on the other end of the rows. we decided to take whatever seats that are near us, i ended sitting on a superman chair, while daomisyel sat on a green lantern chair. enough with chairs.
we were handed press kits and the presscon went on, the usual, probably there would be other posts out there describing how it went. you won't find or read it here hahaha. we took pics, food was served, we took pics, lootbags were distributed, and yes, again we took pics.
oh, i know i already said enough about the chairs, but hey, those shirts that covered the chairs were for us to take home. so there, i took home my superman shirt to the envy of my brothers upon seeing my lootbag. i'm such a kiddie, right? lootbag. haha. as if i went to a kiddie birthday party. anyway...
the food. let me describe(?) the food. they served paella, potato latkes (potato pancakes y'all!), breaded melted cheese (i don't exactly know what those are called), and some pasta in olive oil with mushroom and chicken. i'm not gonna critique because i'm not a food guru or even enthusiast. i wanna say more, but writing this part is making me hungry. really.
as we were eating, we sat in a table where all superman and flash collectibles were displayed. i knocked 'em all superman toys due to my clumsiness. yes, i am THE kryptonite! muhahaha! i kind of made something like a superman mass grave the way i knocked them down. and this is the part of the presscon i enjoyed most.
all the toys were in front of me, i played with them a bit, discovered their different appearances. there was even this Flash toy that i call "Loser Flash" because that kid in MAD Comics was Flash. that kid from the comic looks like a loser, ergo Loser Flash. there was a green lantern batman, a glow in the dark batman, some villainous looking supermen and some russian superman, batman and flash from elseworld(?). i kind of made a batman boyband too. those toys showed how those superheroes evolved. i never thought superheroes are vainer than gay men and madonna.
and since i knocked supermen, i also knocked the flashes too, well, for photography purposes though. there weren't too many batmen so they didn't fall victim to being knocked down.
did i mention anthony pangilinan hosted the presscon? and rj ledesma dropped by. nice guys. ☺
