Greenhills to hold massive recyclables collection event in November

Greenhills Shopping Center brings back a massive recyclables collection event in an effort to increase awareness on proper solid waste management among its customers, tenants, and residents of the nearby villages. Cash for Scrap 2: A Recycler’s Bazaar happens on November 6 at the Parking 1 along Ortigas Avenue, between 8 AM to 12 NN. Some of Manila’s top recyclers, and representatives from local government units, as well as the neighboring barangays and schools, will participate in this event.

The first Cash for Scrap event was held last April 2011, and it was met with much enthusiasm. Tons of paper and electronic wastes were collected, along with other items such as car batteries, busted bulbs, ink cartridges, and plastics.

Cash for Scrap was intended to be a one time event. But, Greenhills Shopping Center got a lot of positive feedback, and there were many calls for a repeat. People from as far as Manila City came with their recyclables. Greenhills Shopping Center was able to collect about forty crates of busted light bulbs—some of these were fed to a mechanism that separates the mercury component of the bulbs from the glass.

This quarter, Greenhills Shopping Center invites an even more diverse group of recyclers, which would add to the number of waste categories. Event partners include: GARC, Philippine Plastic Inc. Assoc., Philippine Recyclers Inc., Polystyrene Packaging Council of the Philippines, Genetron, HMR Envirocycle, Trust International Paper Corporation, Dolomatrix, and MGHS.

Interested individuals may bring the following waste products for recycling:

Used ink cartridges
PET bottles and plastic bags
Used batteries
Used but clean Styrofoam
Used oil
Electronic wastes (old phones or laptops)
Paper
Busted bulbs
Used cans and metals

Other organizations that sell quality recycled products would also be participating: Kilus Foundation, producer of bags and other accessories from doy packs; Gifts and Graces, producer of products from old newspapers; and Earthday Village producer of bags and raincoats from used tarpaulins.

The event is co-presented by the National Solid Waste Management Commission under the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, Barangays Greenhills and Wack-Wack, Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines, and OCLP Holdings, Inc. (OHI) an Ortigas company.

Cash for Scrap was the very first recyclables collection event under the Solid Waste Management Program of OHI and was conceptualized to promote waste segregation at source, help turn wastes into cash, while preventing these from ending in the landfill. Urban Planning Vision for Cebu
Team Provides a Roadmap Towards a Smarter Cebu

Cebu, 20, October 2011 – IBM [NYSE: IBM] today announced the successful completion of an operational framework project towards an integrated development process, particularly in urban planning and transport & traffic management for Cebu. In the last three weeks, six senior IBM leaders from the United States, Sweden, Germany and Italy worked closely with the various Cities and Municipalities of Cebu Province through the newly formed Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB).

The team is part of IBM Executive Service Corps, a variant of the company’s ongoing Corporate Service Corps pro bono community service program. Since its commencement in 2008, the Corporate Service Corps’ mandate and portfolio have been broadened and deepened. It now includes IBM executives who work in teams with city planners, entrepreneurs, business leaders and governmental agencies to develop road maps that identify the best ideas, most scalable solutions and critical next steps in the economic, social and environmental sustainability of cities.

Besides the various Cities and Municipalities, the IBM executives also worked closely, provincial leaders, academia, and the private sector of Metro Cebu to address key issues it is facing in the areas of land use planning & zoning, and transport & traffic management. Increased flash floods and worsening traffic not only causes inconvenience, but hinder economic development and contribute to pollution. Among other issues, the team studied ways to understand existing practices and systems as well as the gaps – from the point of view of institutions, processes, mandate, and Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) infrastructure.

The ESC team presented to the Metro Cebu stakeholders and the Governor of Cebu who is leading the MCDCB a detailed report, including a set of observation and recommended policies, processes, and supporting ICT systems that will enable Metro Cebu to be more competitive in the global marketplace. It leverages existing programs to arrive a realistic roadmap with both short term and long term objectives to address Metro Cebu’s traffic congestion and land use planning methodologies along with an improved governance model that can be used to combat additional core issues like flooding, water and waste management.

“IBM has been working closely with cities and governments around the world to make their transportation and urban planning systems smarter,” said Special Projects Leader, IBM Philippines. “Smarter traffic solutions can help traffic flow smoothly, anticipate congestion and reduce emissions. While smarter urban planning can integrate and enable long-range planning for land use and urbanization to help prevent unwanted flooding and encourage tourism to heritage sites throughout the area, as a couple of examples.”

The MCDCB was set up in May 2011 to replace the previous Metro Cebu Development Council (MCDC). The board is keen to overcome traffic congestion, improve the transportation systems and improve the land use across Metro Cebu, all part of its own roadmap towards a Smarter Cebu.

“We are excited to be working with IBM to look into smarter solutions to better manage our public transportation and urban planning systems. Public-private partnerships like this will help ensure a greener and an integrated Metro Cebu,” said Governor Gwen Garcia, Cebu Province.

This ESC team brings with them a wide range of business experiences from strategic and organizational consulting, business process outsourcing to consumer products brand management in various industries including small and medium businesses, communications service providers and local governments in their home countries.

The ESC team covered significant ground, meeting with public and private sector stakeholders across Metro Cebu to get a better understanding of the challenges they face and the potential for improvements. The executives also had the chance to visit the Badjao Community to see the challenges from another perspective.

“Everyone we met with was open and welcoming with a shared desire to see Cebu prosper” said Martina Pareschi, IBM Global Business Consulting Executive, Italy.

SINGAPORE, 20 OCTOBER, 2011 – A fundraising and awareness campaign conducted by the staff at Yahoo! Singapore raised more than SG$ 50,000 in support of the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) and reached out to Singaporeans to raise awareness about the cause through a link on the Yahoo! front page. The project ran from 10 – 14 October on Yahoo! Singapore and featured articles and interviews with children and families affected by cancer.

At the finale event which took place at Yahoo! Singapore office, 10 enthusiastic Yahoos sacrificed their locks of love in support of the cause and had their heads shorn by professional hairstylists, Jean Yip. Sharing in the event, during a fleeting visit to the regional headquarters in Singapore, was Internet legend and co-founder of Yahoo! Jerry Yang, together with Rose Tsou, the Senior Vice President of Yahoo! Asia Pacific. This was the first project by Yahoo! under the “Purple Hope” banner; a community initiative whereby Yahoo! will support local causes through fund-raising and awareness building. To date the project has raised in excess of S$50,000.00.

The CCF, which was founded in 1992 with a mission to improve the quality of life for children suffering from cancer and their families, was chosen for this first “Purple Hope” initiative after one of the Yahoo! staff made a personal pledge during the Hair for Hope campaign earlier in the year. Lorna Tan, Finance Director at Yahoo! Singapore is already one of CCF’s highest personal contributors and it was a show of team support to further her lead and adopt CCF as the first project partner for the Yahoo! “Purple Hope” programme.

The two typhoons that consecutively pounded most of Luzon left several towns flooded and without electricity, food, water and shelter. Proceeds of the Baha Fund will be forwarded to the TV5 Foundation to help augment and speed up its relief operations in hard-hit places in Metro Manila and the provinces.

“We are once again appealing to Filipinos all over the country to unite in helping our kababayans in need,” said Ramon Isberto, head of Smart Public Affairs. “We did it before when Ondoy struck. We can do it again. People need our help.”

To make it easy for anyone in the country to donate to the Baha Fund, Smart is opening an emergency Smart Money account and making it available to the public. Smart Money users can instantly send their donation by transferring funds from their bank accounts and/ or own Smart Money accounts to the official Baha Fund account number 5577 5130 6822 1104.

Donors may also deposit cash to this Smart Money account number in any Banco De Oro branch nationwide or through Hapinoy and Cebuana Lhuillier outlets.

PLDT-Smart Foundation, Inc. (PSF) is also accepting donations through its Banco De Oro account 00-5310-01388-2 (Makati Avenue-Ayala Branch).

Smart subscribers may also send their financial help to the Philippine Red Cross through text. To donate, one simply sends RED <AMOUNT> to 4143. Valid donation amounts are 10, 25, 50 and 100 and will be charged to the subscribers prepaid load or postpaid bill.

Aside from raising funds for typhoon victims, Smart has been continuously running its Libreng Tawag operations in several areas in Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Cagayan. In areas where communications signals were marred by the strong winds and heavy rains or power failures, Smart deployed Smart Link satellite phones to enable residents to contact their loved ones and to enable concerned agencies to facilitate rescue operations.

Smart also assisted in the rescue operations in Bulacan where several towns were submerged by flash floods. In Aurora and Nueva Ecija, Smart’s cell sites were also opened to the public for free cellphone charging.

“All our operations entail hard work and resources and we need the help of all our kababayans,” said Isberto. “Much more still needs to be done after Pedring and Quiel. Even now, we are already bracing for Ramon,” he ended.

We live in a world of rapidly changing media and technology; a world where children are more tech-savvy than their parents and where social media can be equally harmful as it is beneficial. With sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, plus escalating ownership of mobile phones, it has become even harder for parents to keep up with the children’s online activities.

To help children be cyber and mobile safe involves parents, teachers and community leaders reinforcing the important lessons of what it means to be a good digital citizen, what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to proper behavior and how Internet safety is mostly about behavior in the blended world where children live on and offline.

As a longtime advocate on child safety, Yahoo! has made it a company priority to protect children online by creating tools for people to safeguard themselves and by supporting efforts to educate children, parents, adults, and communities about safer online experiences.

Earlier this year, Yahoo! forged a partnership with Sonnie Santos, one of the country’s top web safety advocates and founder of Business Values 2.0 and Web Safety Philippines, to help spread awareness throughout the Philippines, especially among the youth.

Sonnie is a regular columnist at Yahoo! titled Safety Net and also the Expert Advisor for Yahoo! Safely; the online resource which informs parents and educators about important topics such as managing your “digital reputation” and learning how to minimize risks on mobile devices, as well as provides guidance on how to use specific Yahoo! products safely.

Where do your children go when they go online?

In the past, when children were at home, they were ‘safe’ but now when they go on the Internet, surfing online is not always a safe experience. Stories about cyber bullying are becoming common. The Internet is a perfect environment that allows a bully to do the things they can’t do when face-to-face. In addition, mobile is changing the way children access information today. Children use the mobile for SMS-ing, downloading online games, videos and music without being fully aware of the nature of content. Beyond that the Internet is an open ground for stalkers and location-based social networking is a real concern and a potential threat that cannot be neglected.

Befriending your child on the Internet

To know where our children are going online and what they are doing, Yahoo! Safely advises parents to abandon the digital divide, embrace their world and enjoy the possibilities together. Good parenting means that adults know what sites their children visit or the songs they download, and find ways to become a part of their activities. This is particularly important as young people don't differentiate between their online and offline worlds and the skills they learn to keep themselves safe at home, school or in their community directly translate across into the virtual world. Remember, it is not hard to learn how to text, set up a Facebook page, download and send photos or updates using a mobile phone or even upload video on You Tube. It's important for parents to skill themselves up around technology use they you can realistically assess what young people are doing online and offer good guidance.

Inculcating good old-fashioned values

Values of right or wrong are also extended to online and mobile life and parents play an important role in guiding their children’s behavior online. Remind your children that anyone – potential employers or college admissions persons can easily surf the sites and see what is on their pages. Let your children know that once they post something on their pages, it is out of their hand and can be taken out of context, cut, altered, pasted and sent around without their consent. While it is true we can delete a post or an image, by the time we’ve done that, it’s already been copied by that website’s back-up system so it never truly goes away and we can’t guarantee it hasn’t already been passed on to someone else. The only way to guarantee something we don’t want others to see is not passed on is to not post it to begin with. Stop and think before you post as what you do today can be abused by someone tomorrow.

Family time

Phone and online activities are real time eaters. Parents can set the boundaries for the time spent on the Internet or set up “no Internet evenings” where family members can talk about an interesting site or article they have read online.

Impart family values by setting a good example. For instance, if parents are on their Blackberry or iPhone at a dinner table how can you expect children to turn off their phones when asked?

Involvement on behalf of educators

Educators can become more involved in helping teens to manage their digital reputation. For instance, it is becoming increasingly common in the US for sports coaches to ask new joiners to befriend them on Facebook before joining the team. This immediately sets the rule for sports enthusiasts about what is appropriate to communicate or post online. Photos of drug taking, drinking or sexual posing or anything students wouldn’t want to put on the wall in the school, shouldn’t be put it on their pages.

Cyber bullying is increasingly becoming an online threat and causes emotional duress to students. Fearing that a parent will only make things worse, children don't want them to get involved. School authorities on the other hand regard cyber bullying as an off-campus matter and are not willing address it. While there are no state laws governing off-campus cyberspeech issues, there are general guidelines that schools can follow. As a general rule, if the speech was created and distributed using school equipment, during school hours and/or on campus, schools may choose to discipline students for inappropriate expression if it interferes with the rights of others.

There are a number of tools and guidance on digital parenting, topics on cyber wellness and settings that can ensure a safe and pleasurable Internet experience.

Today as a part of our greater responsibility towards the community, we must all take an active role in creating a safer online environment not just for our families, friends and the entire society to stay connected, safely!

After all, the Internet is a fantastic journey to explore alongside your kids and learn new things with them so play safe, be smart and have fun.

Perhaps the most tedious part, is the POST EVENT. We need to devote our time in gathering information and posting them right away since we are busy with our daily routine, we can allot at least few hours to collate all data to post them and use the materials wisely. Pinoy_Blogfest 2.0 advocates social media for social good

With Filipinos once again acknowledged as among the most active social media users — via FaceBook, Twitter, Multiply, Tumblr, Flickr, YouTube, etc. — Filipino bloggers are challenged to explore the potential of social media as a transformative force in Philippine society. “Social media as an agent for change” will be the theme of Pinoy_Blogfest 2.0, happening on Friday, 05 August 2011, at the TriNoma Activity Center in Quezon City.

Leading the discussion will be prominent social media activists Usec. Manuel (Manolo) L. Quezon III and Ms. Gang Badoy, who will share their thoughts on these two basic questions: How can we harness the power of social media for the social good? Can bloggers become positive change agents through social networking?

Both Usec. Quezon and Ms. Badoy will be the main speakers during the Blogger’s BIO (By Invitation Only) programme, scheduled from 7:00 to 10:00 pm as the culminating activity of Pinoy_Blogfest 2.0 on Friday, 05 August 2011.

Manolo Quezon is a popular essayist and blogger, who is currently an undersecretary of the Presidential Communications and Strategic Planning Office. Prior to this, he hosted The Explainer and The Explainer Dialogues on ANC cable news channel. He also headed the Speaker’s Bureau and was a columnist and editorial writer for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, and was the assistant managing editor for the Philippine Free Press weekly news magazine. Usec. Quezon has received various awards for his professional work, including being named “Opinion Writer of the Year” in 1994 and 2005 by the Rotary Club of Manila’s Journalism Awards, one of the oldest journalism awards in the country. He also won the 1^st Prize for the Essay in English for the Carlos Palance Memorial Awards for Literature in 1997.

Ms. Gang Badoy is a media practitioner and alternative educator. A product of the Assumption San Lorenzo High School, UP Diliman and the Indianapolis-Purdue University, she worked first for ABS-CBN in San Francisco and became news desk editor for NBC’s Eyewitness News. In 1999, she accepted a post with the Diocese of San Jose, California, and worked closely with Catholic Relief Services. She came home to the Philippines in mid-2003 and joined Jesuit Communications (JesCom) and spearheaded workshops on “Media and Ministry” for the East Asian Pastoral Institute. Primarily a writer, Ms. Badoy founded Rock Ed Philippines, an alternative education volunteer group that works for a more interesting way of presenting socio-civic issues to the youth. She also devotes time to giving media literacy lectures in campuses all over the Philippines, and is a staunch volunteerism advocate. Ms. Badoy was awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) and Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) for 2010.

Pinoy_Blogfest 2.0 is a whole-day event, with several Social Activities targeted at various audiences. These are open to the public, as follows: 10:30 am to 12:oo nn – The New Workplace; 01:00 pm to 02:30 pm – It’s A Digital Life; 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm – Photography; 04:00 pm to 05:30 pm – Healthy Living. Choosing Domain Names

On your website, the domain name should be given great importance. It is the identity of your website. Without it, your site is nothing. And just like with business outside the internet, it should be created or chosen with care or intense study. It shouldn't be just picked by basing on random circumstances. It should be be based on a plan or strategy.

Your domain must be something that is easy to remember. And when we thinks, we must be thinking of something short. You are allowed to register a domain name of up to 63 characters, but if it is that long, people might not be able to remember it. It should also be catchy and easy to speak, even by younger kids. Right spelling is not necessary here, just keep it easy to write or spell. If it appears to be funny, the better.

In choosing domain names, characters to be used are limited to letters, number and dashes. Spaces and symbols are not allowed. It can come as .com, .net, or .info.

Once you find the right domain name, you can register it on a global domain name registration. Register.com is one of the well know domain name registration site. Their service is more than just registering your internet business, it will also give you a range of suggestion of what name you should go for, or if your chosen name is already existing.

You can test if your chosen name is effective by telling it to your friends or clients. If they remember it, then you should go for it.

One thing of note is that social media is entirely for free. Unlike other forms of media exposure, like print and TV, where you have to shell out a large amount for just a few seconds or a few square centimeters worth of appearance, here you will actually be able to start almost instantly. And this you should use to your advantage.

However, even though many businesses have joined the social media bandwagon for the above reasons, a lot of them, even the larger ones, still can't hold on to it. So what went wrong here? Since, for many companies, there presence here is only all about business, they often tend to do it the traditional way, using blatant sales pitches. But the word “social” in social media does have a significance. Here, you are expected to interact with your customers in a more sociable manner, instead of acting like a hard nosed salesman. Small businesses actually have an advantage in this area. Since they still don't have all the elaborate corporate layers that most large companies have, customers and clients will find it easier to reach the top brass in order to air their comments. And perhaps the most important reminder here is to make use of what you get from your social media participation. As in the above, larger companies with many departments often have difficulties with this, as they tend to relegate this one to specific departments, such as the social media department. But since your business is still small, you will still have a lot time to read and understand what people are saying about you on social media sites. And even if your business suddenly grows into large corporation, it would still be a good idea for you yourself to have social media participation in order to get a lot more ideas, instead of immediately handing over to your new IT department.

It was a great opportunity for Bloggers to learn and play casino at Thunderbird Resort.

Here are the posts done by two bloggers who would like to keep their identities as anonymous and shared their views about the workshop.

BLOGGER 1
April 16, 2011 – It was just a lucky day for me. Playing at the casino was actually not my game. Joining the group was then so exciting and fun. For the dealer was so nice, a kind of a jolly person and friendly one. The game tutorial was really enjoyable and fun. I just actually got a lot of enjoyment in the game tutorial of Baccarat, pontoon, pai gao and most specially the Slots game. I tried playing within the slots machines and i really enjoyed it.

Actually, i am into writing articles about such games and i can say that it is more understandable to learn the game in actual rather than visualizing the process of it. It is good that i have my luck on that day for i just won although not really big winnings.

I can now say that playing on it actually can turn you into allurement in the prizes and the machine games itself. Anyways, it was then a joyous experience for it was my first time to play on that kind of game in an actual casino resort, thunderbird was indeed surprisingly beautiful! I never expect a beautiful place like that for it was located on a secluded place, where you can never expect that there is an extraordinary landscape such as thunderbird resorts!

I'll be glad to have my second visit at the resort the sooner time this summer! It was then a never before experience at the resort. And i just super like it. An extraordinary experience just happened in my 20 years of existence! hehe, I hope that it is not the end but a starting of an extraordinary happenings in my life! Just super duper like thunderbird resort's casino games and the resort itself! :):)

BLOGGER 2It was a privilege for me to attend to the Blogger Fest held in Thunderbird Resort last Saturday April 16 2011. The experience of being with so many smart people is very fascinating. Add up to that, to learn and try what I’ve been writing for quite some time is the best experience in that event for me (I’m talking about the Casino).
I’ve been writing articles about the casino since last year and honestly speaking, though I’m writing lots of stuff about it I have a little knowledge about it and just relying on what I’ve read. But through this experience in the Blogger Fest, I had the chance to learn it fully and experience it with pride.

I had fun learning Baccarat. The employee that acts as a banker taught us with patience. They even gave us a pamphlet to help us understand the rules of the game. I finally discover that baccarat is the version of our own “Bente Uno” or 21. Learning baccarat in land based casino is quite confusing at first.

Even so, through keen listening I was able to determine what I should do in my first move.

My Reality, My Story: a BUM Equipment Photo Essay Contest

How to Participate
1. Contestant must have a valid Email.

2. “My Story” Contest is open for Boys & Girls, 13 yrs old above and resident of the Philippines.

3. A contestant is qualified to join upon purchase of any of BUM’s My Story Collection for boys or girls available at BUM Boutiques & leading Department Stores Nationwide.

4. To register, Log on to www.bumequipment.com.ph and fill up the application with:
• Full Name

• Date of Birth

• Complete Address

• Telephone and or Mobile Number

• Valid email address

• Store name where the product is purchased

• Write a story in not less than 300 words, on how BUM influenced their “Realities”?

• Submit story entries with the photograph at www.bumequipment.com.ph

• No other products or brands (except BUM) must be worn in the photograph and photo must be in landscape picture orientation, JPEG/GIF or PNG format and cannot exceed 2MB in file size.

• A contestant may opt to submit more than 1 story entry, provided each story submitted must be supported with a decent photograph of the contestant wearing the “MYSTORY” collection; however each photograph must be a different design from the My Story Collection. Photos must be taken with a date starting April 1, 2011 until the end of entry submission. The collections are identifiable by the “My Story” swing tags.

5. BUM Management and the website administrator shall screen the entries, makes sure that entries are written decently, should not contain any obscene words and the likes before uploading and posting at BUM’s website.

Photographs must adhere to the following guidelines to be approved and uploaded:
• It must be clear and not blurred.
• It must be focused on one person only who is wearing the BUM My Story T-Shirt.
• It must have a date starting from April 1 – May 30, 2011.
• It must be in landscape orientation.

6. Should a contestant decide to “post” or “share” their stories on Facebook, Twitter or any other website without the knowledge and controls of BUM, BUM shall not in any way responsible for whatever consequences and or any sort of comments allowing himself/herself to be the subject of varying comments, view and opinions of people, which may be express or relayed not just at BUM’s Facebook Fan page, but in other ways and medium, including but not limited to blogs. In such cases BUM Management & the website administrator will not be in any way held responsible and whatsoever in the dissemination of such.

7. Before submission of entries, contestants attest he or she has fully read and understood the mechanics and agrees upon the terms and conditions of this promotion.

8. Promo period April 1, 2011 to May 30, 2011. Announcement of winners June 30, 2011

DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
All entries must be received until 11:59 p.m. of May 30, 2011. BUM will not responsible for any technical delay in the transmission of the entries. All entries must be submitted via www.bumequipment.com.ph

VOTING OF ENTRIES
1. Anyone who visits the BUM website can vote once for any entry. IP address of the voter will be logged on the database to prevent double voting. A unique IP address is equivalent to one vote per entry.

2. Voting starts once first approved entries are posted on the website and ends 11:59 PM June 29, 2011.

3. Only the votes executed at BUM website will be considered valid.

4. Top 8 best entries will be selected based on the entries with top number of votes.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
5 Semi-finalists, 2 Runner-ups and Grand Winner Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
1. BUM Factor (40%) – Is the story’s legibility parallel to BUM campaign?

2. Originality (30%) – Is the subject matter pictured in a unique way or is a common item shown from an interesting point-of-view? Does the photo demonstrate originality?

3. Creativity (30%) – Are the items of interest placed well in the photo? Are there distracting elements? Is the photo in focus? Is the story interesting?

MECHANICS FOR JUDGING
1. On June 30, 2011 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon at BUM Head Office, Top 8 entries shall be screened by the Judges to get the top 5 semi-finalists, 2 runner ups and the grand winner finalist. The following panel of judges, with the DTI representative and officers from BUM shall be present during the screening:

a. MR. NATHAN ATIENZA – VP FOR MARKETING AND ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATION; He’s the approving executive for Marketing Activities.

b. MR. BENJIE TORRIJOS - BRAND MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT; He’s in charge of brand image and development.

c. MS.JUDY MARET - PR MANAGER; She’s in charge of brand publicity and press releases.

2. Out of the top 8 entries, the Judges will choose the winners based on the set criteria. Each Judge shall be given a score sheet and tallied in the presence of a DTI representative. The same panel of judges, with a DTI representative and officers from BUM shall be present during the determination of winners.

PRIZES
Prizes for this contest are as follows:

Grand Prize
i. Apple iPad2 16GB WIFI
ii. BUM Loot Bag

2nd Prize – 2 Runner-Ups
i. Samsung ES65 Camera
ii. BUM Loot Bag

3rd Prize – 5 Semi-Finalists
i. Apple iPod Shuffles
ii. BUM Loot Bag

A participant can only win once in the entire contest. In the event more than one entry of a contestant wins, the following rule shall apply:
a. The entry with the higher prize shall prevail;

b. If the entries win similar prizes, the entry garnering the higher rating shall prevail;

All prizes are non-transferable and non-convertible to cash and or BUM products.

WINNERS
1. Winners shall be announced in BUM website www.bumequipment.com.ph, Facebook Fan Page, and Twitter on June 30, 2011, 10PM.

2. Winner shall be notified thru registered mail, email and phone call.

3. Winners must present valid Identification to claim the prize.

4. Prizes not claimed within 60 days upon receipt of notification shall be forfeited in favor of BUM with prior DTI approved.

5. Decisions of the sponsors and judges are final and binding with the concurrence of the DTI.

6. Metro Manila winner must claim their prizes at the BUM Head Office located at Jade Building McArthur Highway, Malabon City from 9:00AM to 5:00PM (Mondays to Fridays). Prizes for the provincial winners shall be delivered via designated courier upon confirmation of receipt of notification by phone or email specified in the registered mail.

7. Winners must present a valid ID and registered notice.
DISQUALIFICATION OF BUM AND AFFILIATES’ EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, CONSULTANTS AGENTS AND THEIR RELATIVES
Employees of BUM, any affiliate of BUM, any of their advertising or promotional agencies, any provider of any prize offered in this contest or any business or entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of this contest, as well as their relatives up to the 3rd degree of consanguinity or affinity are disqualified from joining this contest.
